Griffon's Corner Every week I will be posting an article that relates to life around the game that we so belatedly worship. This will just be some personal experiences and thoughts I have on the community and game happenings themselves. The last article I wrote The Gamers Manifesto seem to get quite a good response, and I thank you all for your input and feelings. So if you just want to kick back and have a good laugh or maybe see if someone has the same views as you drop by and check the article I'm pretty sure you'll find it entertaining.
New Forums The message board is now up and with a new look. We hope this is where people and clans alike can get there points across and post new clan related events, like practice or open match competitions. So have fun with it, and I hope to see your name in the forums.
Clans Update Well the clans are pilling in we have updated the clans page and we are happy to see the new clans show serious interest in there community. We will start next week showcasing a Clan everyday. The post will consist of there members there background and links to there site. We will also be posting if they are looking for any clan members, and if so how to get a hold of them.
Lost and Found The seeking section of the site is filling up, and we are trying to catch up with all the updates that we missed from yesterdays fiasco. So if you are not posted yet I promise we will get to you as so as we can. Thank you, and bare with us.
Server Down There was no site news posted on this day. Thanks to are wonderful server we had no ftp access therefore we could not update. We how ever have made the correct changes and are sorry for any in convinces.
1 vs.1 We will be opening a one on one tournament in the next few days it will be a 10 frag limit round robin style tournament. This will not effect your clan rating stats and is open to all who wants to give it a try. If this sounds interesting to you or you would like to acquire more info please drop us a line. We are taking RSVP so if you would like to e-mail us your reservation we will be more than happy to take it. We are still debating on the prize, don't worry it will be something worth fragging for.
Griffon's Manifesto Son, get off that dam computer and feed the dogs! Yes Mom. I swear sometimes you pay more attention to that machine than you do to me! We all heard it; it’s the call of the computer illiterate. They don’t understand. Why should they? These people actually saw the invention of the TV. It’s amazing what computers have developed into, I grew up on Nintendo and now I have the ability to get online and kill people from all over the entire world. The cyber battlefield is the last pure place on this earth; it’s the only true place. The only object in the arenas is to kill. When you do kill someone it’s not because you’ve been harboring some deep internal resentment towards them, it’s because that what your there for. When you steal a flag, for instance, it’s not because you are lashing out do to your low Self-esteem; it’s because that’s what your supposed to do. When you lay the smack down on someone it’s not because your father was an alcoholic or your mother was a whore, it’s because they suck and you know it. This is why I have turned to machines, because when you’re in that arena it doesn’t matter if you black or white, smart or stupid, it’s all about skill. These games that everyone calls worthless are the true level playing field, where everyone is equal. Where only the law of nature applies —The strong survive and the weak parish. Despite all of this I love it because when I suck it’s not because my machine doesn’t like me. It’s not because it thinks I am a smart ass, and it’s not because it doesn’t feel like do anything right now. On the computer I am master, it does what I tell it to do, not what it thinks I should do. When it screws up it’s because I screwed up.

What you see is..... What you see is not always what you get when it comes to video cards and that has never been a more truthful statement than now. There are so many video cards out on the market now, and it seem like I just bought one three months ago. Do I need to upgrade well maybe yes and maybe no. First ask yourself do I have the $150-$340 to throw around well I don't know about you but I don't, but then again this isn't about me. Once you come to that conclusion then if yes these are the things to take in consideration. First what kind of games do I usually stick to (I mean some of us get a crazy feather in are A$$ and go buy sim coaster for fun, but for are sake lets say you play FPS) Well we need as many frames per second as we can get for the money we have and in our case lets say 200 bones. Well then we stroll on down to the local Software/Hardware store and this is where the knowledge comes in handy. Since there are so many neatly colored boxes, with pretty pictures on them of planes and tanks. That you might be persuaded to buy one because the box looks tuff. Just throw that out the window. No box on this planet is going to help you gain frames or render open GL properly now that you have come to realize the cold truth that the box doesn't count lets talk about something's that do. Well most FPS you will want a high frame rate output that's a given but what to do about 16 meg or 32 meg umm.... Well that's up to you, do you like to play games to admire the beautiful backgrounds or do you want to get down to business and do some hardcore fragging :) Some cards like the new GeForce 256 and the tnt2 allow you to do both. And do them quite well I might add, or do you want to fly by the seat of your pants and push as many frames as you can get like from a Voodoo3 or the up Coming 4, and 5. Now you may sacrifice gamma and color rendering for speed but on today's market the you don't have to. The GeForce 256 is one of the most elite Video Cards known to man. There are two types of GeForce cards the standered SDR (single data rate) and the new godlike DDR (double data rate) now these get pricey in the range of $299-$389 so bring your checkbook if you want a DDR version. In our case we are looking at the SDR version of the card. First what company well there are about 5 main stream and 1 or 2 oddballs (stick with the main stream) Then there are about 5 different price ranges for the cards, you have to pick what is important to you here, game bundle or bare bones product. Me I'm the barebones kind of guy I don't need floppy goes home part 2 but maybe you do so take bundles into consideration. But when it comes down to the card your going to get about the same product no matter witch way you turn. (Product info) The biggest decision your going to have to make about a GeForce is what pretty box you want.
Ladders running @ Mach 1 The ladders are up and going and let me tell you on a personal note that I'm very pleased to see the support from the clans. We figured that if you provide a product that is fresh and different that the response would be great. And that's just what we did by making are ladders run off the ngWorldStat rating system. It's new and it's fresh and it shows by the clan support. Keep up the good work and if you haven't joined the ladder, well I guess you just don't know what your missing. To all the clans that have signed up we are still processing applications and we will get you posted as soon as we can. Thank you for your patients.
Christmas Time in Frag Land Yes it's getting close to that time again and what is on your wish list A new CPU or is it in the shape of a new video card. All of us here at UTCC are very pumped up for Christmas not just because of the gift bearing part ( don't get me wrong that's a great part :) but because of all the lucky boys and girls that will be getting UT for Christmas. Because of the late release date you can bet that at least 500 more players will show up on your server screen after the holidays. You got to love the holidays, and here at UTCC to show are appreciation we are donating 10 copies of UT to the Blank Childrens Hospital here in Des Moines. Happy Holidays Everyone
Rocket Arena IT looks like right around the corner will be one of the biggest mods of all time for UT the ever so famous Rocket Arena. This is sure to be a clan favorite and as time goes by we will add a section to the site dedicated to Rocket Arena and it's clan Wars :) Does that mean we will be adding another section to our ladders?, you bet it does we will stay on top of all the trends for clan attracting mods. So stay posted as more info is released.
Forums are here We have finally got it done. We now have a message board here at UTCC and we are happy to bring it to you. In fact so happy that Griffon........ well never mind you can read it yourself , but I must say it is quite funny. There are ten categories to choose from so feel free to post whatever you want.

Want to get in a clan ? We have add some new features to the site like Seeking and Wanted these are section dedicated to the player/Clan member who is looking for a clan or has openings in there clan. We will keep that updated non stop so you will get return info as fast as you can *note* please include an E-mail address it make it a lot easier for whom ever is inquiring to get a hold of you directly a lot faster.

New Site on the Horizon We got an e-mail from a brand new site call Unreal Center ( Good Name ) I must admit I went over to have a look and I must say it is a very clean cut and very informative. It is everything you could want from a main stream site : News, Downloads, Tips, Reviews, and lots more maybe even clans? I defiantly think it's a site worth book marking so don't pass it up check it out here.
New Design Yes, Yes I know a new look, but I must say that this brick theme Unleashed came up with is pretty cool. Me and him have to have a talk because he is so obsessed by these dark colors. hehee. Any way we hope you like the new look, but we would like to here from you. Because you know this site isn't about us it's about you. So drop us a line tell us what you think.
Deadlines We hope that you have signed up for the ladders because spots are filling up fast. We are ranking clans as fast as the software lets us and updating periodically so keep checking back. You don't want to miss your spot on the ladder because as more join you can go up and down, depending on how the other clans rating points are.
Forums Hopefully by the end of this week we will be adding forums to the site. Because what's a clan site without forums. You know you guys need a place to get your views across and run the occasional smack :) Anyway stay posted they should be here anytime.
Got Skin ? If you have or are in a clan that has custom skins feel free to send them in we will review them and post them for downloading if you wish. We are very big supporters of the clan community, and anything we can do to help your clan get recognized for the benefits they provide we would be happy to publish them. We understand how valuable it is to be a part of an organized team, and how handy it is to know that someone has always got your back in a game. So if you have any Skins or maps feel free we are always willing to give you your due.
Ladders As you know are signup has begun for the ladders and if you or your clan have not registered I suggest that you waste no time because slots are filling up fast. We will be posting clans as soon as all the stats are calculated. NetGames USA kind of threw a kink in the plan when they released the new patch but are software is updated now and we are ready to go. So head on over to the join ladder section and sign up if you already haven't.
Readers Response What a wild response we got from are review we can tell there are a lot of Quake crossover fans. Everyone seems to agree that Unreal Tournament is just Dominating the FPS market right now but then again what would you expect from GT, I know they are a lot more dependable than id software. It seem to me that what happens is that one company gets there product out then the other company counters, but this time Quakes name sake could do it alone. That's why you will see more of the crossover fans. We are not blind to the fact that all games are not created equal, and we sure understand quality, and that is what Unreal Tournament is.
